St. John's Mercy Medical Center, a member of the Sisters of Mercy Health System - St. Louis, seeks an experienced Burn Unit Physician Assistant to join our three physician burn team in a 9 bed, regional burn center. The Burn Center admits over 200 patients annually. St. John’s is designated a Level I Trauma Center, seeing 65,000 emergency visits per year; and admits over 1,700 trauma patients annually. It is an 859 bed, community, not-for-profit, teaching center. Burn Unit duties include central access lines, critical care E& M and wound care, surgery first assist, hospital & emergency department rounds. Evaluation & management and follow up visits in ambulatory setting.

No weekends or Holidays! The Physician Assistant (PA) provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of Staff Physician or Site Medical Director. The PA uses clinical judgments in conducting health assessments making differential diagnosis. Plans are implemented through independent action, health counseling, and collaboration with other members of the health team. The PA promotes optimum health, prevents illness and injury, and manages acute and chronic health problems in the on-site setting. Required Qualifications: •Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university PA Program required; Master’s Degree preferred •At least three years of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant in an ambulatory care, occupational health, family practice or emergency department setting •Licensed as a Physician Assistant in the state or jurisdiction of practice •National Certification with NCCPA •Knowledge of workplace health and safety concepts and OSHA regulations preferred •Current Certification in AHA or ARC Basic Life Support for medical provider is required Advanced Cardiac Life Support may also be required based on contract scope of services. •Appropriate certification to write prescriptions under the authority of the Medical Leader, if allowed within state of practice •Strong computer skills with knowledge of Internet software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
